# Tillage Pricing

Tillage is free invoicing software with full quote-to-cash depth. There is no monthly subscription and no paid tier. Every team gets unlimited invoices, quotes, clients, and contracts at $0/month. Tillage only earns a 1% platform fee when you process a payment through the platform — and you can pass that fee (plus Stripe's processing fees) to your clients, so you keep 100% of the invoice amount.

## One Plan: Free Forever

**Price:** $0/month

- **Monthly cost:** $0 — no subscription, no per-seat fees
- **Signup:** Free, no credit card required
- **Usage limits:** Unlimited quotes, invoices, clients, and contracts
- **When Tillage earns:** Only when payments are processed through the platform
- **Platform fee:** 1% of the invoice amount on processed payments, capped at $50 per invoice
- **Offline payments:** $0 — mark invoices paid manually (checks, wire, etc.) with no Tillage fee

There is no longer a paid "Premium" tier. All teams use the same free plan with every feature included.

## Stripe Processing Fees (All Users)

Stripe fees apply to card/ACH payments (industry standard, not Tillage-specific):

- **Credit/Debit Cards:** 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
- **ACH Bank Transfers:** 0.8%, capped at $5 per transaction
- **International Cards:** Additional ~1.5% (Stripe)

## Who Pays the Fees (Configurable)

In Settings → Payments → Fees & Invoicing, you choose who covers each fee:

- **Platform fee (1%):** Business or Client
- **Processing fee (Stripe):** Business or Client (when the client pays, Tillage grosses up the charge so the business receives the full invoice amount)
- **Convenience fee (optional):** Client only; percentage or fixed; card payments only, never ACH; customizable checkout label

Default: the business absorbs fees. You can switch any fee to "Client pays" so you keep 100% of the invoice.

### Example A — Business absorbs all fees ($5,000 invoice, credit card)
- Invoice total: $5,000.00
- Stripe fee (2.9% + $0.30): −$145.30
- Tillage platform fee (1%): −$50.00
- **Business receives: $4,804.70**

### Example B — Client pays all fees ($5,000 invoice, credit card)
- Invoice amount: $5,000.00
- Platform fee (1%): +$50.00
- Processing fee pass-through: +~$151.13
- **Client pays: ~$5,201.13**
- **Business receives: $5,000.00**

### Example C — Client pays fees ($5,000 invoice, ACH)
- Invoice amount: $5,000.00
- Platform fee (1%): +$50.00
- ACH processing pass-through: +$5.00 (capped)
- **Client pays: ~$5,055.00**
- **Business receives: $5,000.00**

### Example D — No Tillage fees at all
- Client pays by check, wire, or outside Tillage
- Mark the invoice paid manually
- **Tillage fee: $0**

## Connecting Stripe (Two Options, Same Pricing)

Both options are $0/month with a 1% platform fee:

- **Express (Tillage-managed):** ~5-minute guided onboarding, best for getting started fast
- **Connect Existing (OAuth):** Link your own Stripe account for full Stripe dashboard and history

Account type is about where payments live, not pricing. Both paths use the same 1% platform fee.

## Large Teams / Custom Needs

Standard use never requires a paid plan. Very large organizations with specific compliance, volume, or support needs can contact sales@tillage.ai to discuss a custom arrangement. This is optional and not required for normal use.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Is Tillage really free?**
Yes. $0/month with unlimited usage. You only pay a 1% platform fee (in addition to Stripe processing) when you process payments through Tillage — capped at $50 per invoice.

**Is there a charge to use Tillage, or only when I get paid?**
Only when you get paid online. There is no subscription or per-invoice charge. Offline payments like checks and wires are free.

**Does Tillage's 1% replace Stripe fees?**
No. The 1% platform fee is in addition to Stripe's card and ACH fees — not a replacement. You configure who pays each fee.

**What does my client pay at checkout if I pass fees?**
When platform and processing fees are set to "Client pays," Tillage grosses up the charge so your client covers both Tillage and Stripe fees. You receive the full invoice amount.

**Is Tillage a payment processor?**
No. Tillage is quote-to-cash and invoicing software. Stripe handles payment processing. Tillage charges a 1% platform fee on payments processed through the platform.

**Can I make it completely free for my business?**
Yes. Set the platform fee and processing fee to "Client pays" in Settings → Payments. Your client covers fees at checkout and you receive the full invoice amount.

**Is there a monthly subscription?**
No. Tillage no longer offers a paid Premium tier. All teams use the same free plan.

**What if my client pays by check or wire?**
Mark the invoice paid manually. No Tillage fee applies.

**What's the difference between Express and Connect Existing?**
Express is a quick Tillage-managed Stripe setup. Connect Existing links your own Stripe account. Same pricing either way: $0/month, 1% on processed payments.

**Are there convenience fees?**
Optional. You can add a markup on credit card payments only (not ACH). Must comply with card network rules — disclose clearly to clients.

**Are there any setup fees?**
No. There are no setup fees, implementation fees, or hidden costs.
