Platform Fees
What is the 1% platform fee?
On the Free plan, Tillage charges 1% of payments processed through the platform. This fee is automatically deducted from each payment.

The fee is taken from each payment when processed. You receive the payment minus:
- Stripe processing fees
- Tillage platform fee (Free plan only)
How do I avoid the platform fee?
Upgrade to Premium ($49/month). Premium users pay 0% platform fee—only Stripe's processing fees.
Is the platform fee charged on all payments?
Yes, on the Free plan, the 1% fee applies to all payments processed through Tillage, whether one-time or recurring.
Stripe Processing Fees
What are Stripe's fees?

These fees apply to all Tillage plans (Free and Premium).
Who pays Stripe fees?
By default, you (the business) pay Stripe fees. They're deducted from each payment.
Premium users can enable "convenience fees" to pass card processing costs to clients.
Why are ACH fees lower?
ACH (bank transfer) has lower fraud risk and processing costs. Stripe charges 0.8% capped at $5, making it ideal for larger invoices.
Example:- $1,000 invoice: $5 ACH fee vs $29.30 card fee
- $10,000 invoice: $5 ACH fee vs $290.30 card fee

Convenience Fees
What are convenience fees?
A way to pass payment processing costs to your clients. Available on Premium plan.
How do convenience fees work?
- Enable in Settings > Payments
- Set fee rate (e.g., 3%)
- Client sees fee added to their invoice
- Invoice: $1,000
- Convenience fee (3%): $30
- Client pays: $1,030
- You receive: ~$1,000 (after Stripe fees)
Do convenience fees apply to ACH?
No. Convenience fees only apply to credit card payments. ACH fees are already low ($5 max), so no pass-through is needed.
Can I set convenience fees per invoice?
Yes. You can:
- Set a team-wide default
- Override on specific invoices
- Disable for certain clients
Premium Plan
How much is Premium?
$49/month per team, billed monthly.
What's included in Premium?
- 0% platform fee (only pay Stripe)
- AI quote generation
- Convenience fees option
- Team collaboration
- Advanced analytics
- Priority support
When does Premium pay for itself?
At $4,900/month in payment volume:
- Free plan fee: $49 (1% of $4,900)
- Premium subscription: $49
- Breakeven point
Above $4,900/month, Premium saves money:
- $10,000/month → Save $51
- $20,000/month → Save $151
- $50,000/month → Save $451
Can I cancel Premium anytime?
Yes. Cancel through Settings. You keep Premium features until the end of your billing period, then revert to Free (with 1% platform fee).
Is there a free trial for Premium?
The Free plan is fully functional with unlimited usage. Use it indefinitely, then upgrade when you need AI features or want to eliminate the platform fee.
Are there annual discounts?

Payouts
When do I receive my money?
Standard payout schedule:
- 2 business days after payment
- Automatic daily payouts to your bank
Where can I see pending payouts?
- Tillage dashboard shows recent payments
- Stripe Dashboard shows full payout details
Why is my payout delayed?
Possible reasons:
- New Stripe account (initial verification hold)
- Weekend/holiday (business days only)
- Large payment (additional verification)
- Bank account verification needed

Invoicing Questions
Is there a fee for sending invoices?
No. Creating and sending invoices is free. You only pay fees when payments are processed.
What if a client pays outside Tillage?
Mark the invoice as "Paid" manually. No processing fees apply for offline payments (checks, wire transfers, etc.).
Can I issue refunds?
Yes, through Stripe Dashboard:
- Find the payment
- Issue full or partial refund
- Tillage syncs the status
Refunded amounts return to the client; Stripe fees are not refunded.
Recurring Billing
Are there extra fees for recurring invoices?
No. The same fee structure applies:
- Free plan: 1% platform fee + Stripe fees
- Premium: Stripe fees only
What about auto-pay?
Same fees. When clients enable auto-pay, payments process automatically with the same fee structure.
International
Can I accept international payments?
Yes. Additional fees may apply:
- International cards: +1.5% (Stripe fee)
- Currency conversion fees may apply
What currencies are supported?
Set your currency in Settings. Common options:
- USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, and more
Clients pay in your configured currency.
Tax
Does Tillage charge sales tax?
Tillage subscription (Premium plan) may include applicable sales tax based on your location.
Can I add tax to invoices?
Yes. Configure tax settings:
- Tax rate percentage
- Tax label (Tax, VAT, GST, etc.)
- Tax-inclusive or exclusive pricing
