Stripe Processing Fees (All Users)

Stripe fees apply to card/ACH payments (industry standard, not Tillage-specific):

Credit/Debit Cards: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
ACH Bank Transfers: 0.8%, capped at $5 per transaction
International Cards: Additional ~1.5% (Stripe)

Who Pays the Fees (Configurable)

In Settings → Payments → Fees & Invoicing, you choose who covers each fee:

Platform fee (1%): Business or Client
Processing fee (Stripe): Business or Client (when the client pays, Tillage grosses up the charge so the business receives the full invoice amount)
Convenience fee (optional): Client only; percentage or fixed; card payments only, never ACH; customizable checkout label

Default: the business absorbs fees. You can switch any fee to "Client pays" so you keep 100% of the invoice.

Account type is about where payments live, not pricing. Both paths use the same 1% platform fee.

Large Teams / Custom Needs

Standard use never requires a paid plan. Very large organizations with specific compliance, volume, or support needs can contact sales@tillage.ai to discuss a custom arrangement. This is optional and not required for normal use.

Is Tillage really free?

Yes. $0/month with unlimited usage. You only pay a 1% platform fee (in addition to Stripe processing) when you process payments through Tillage — capped at $50 per invoice.

Is there a charge to use Tillage, or only when I get paid?

Only when you get paid online. There is no subscription or per-invoice charge. Offline payments like checks and wires are free.

Does Tillage's 1% replace Stripe fees?

No. The 1% platform fee is in addition to Stripe's card and ACH fees — not a replacement. You configure who pays each fee.

What does my client pay at checkout if I pass fees?

When platform and processing fees are set to "Client pays," Tillage grosses up the charge so your client covers both Tillage and Stripe fees. You receive the full invoice amount.

Is Tillage a payment processor?

No. Tillage is quote-to-cash and invoicing software. Stripe handles payment processing. Tillage charges a 1% platform fee on payments processed through the platform.

Can I make it completely free for my business?

Yes. Set the platform fee and processing fee to "Client pays" in Settings → Payments. Your client covers fees at checkout and you receive the full invoice amount.

Is there a monthly subscription?

What if my client pays by check or wire?

What's the difference between Express and Connect Existing?

Are there convenience fees?

Optional. You can add a markup on credit card payments only (not ACH). Must comply with card network rules — disclose clearly to clients.
