Business and branding
Set your business details, logo, location and colors so every quote, contract and invoice carries your name.
Your business details appear on every quote, contract and invoice your clients open. Your country and state also decide which payment methods and fee options you can use, so set them before you connect Stripe.
These settings belong to the team, so everyone on the team shares them. Only owners and admins can change them.
Open business settings
- Open the team menu at the top of the sidebar and choose Team Settings.
- You land on the Business tab. The first card is Business Information.
- Make your changes, then click Save Team Settings.
Tillage shows a banner while you have unsaved changes. Nothing is applied until you save.
Business information
| Field | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Business Logo | PNG, JPG or SVG up to 5MB. Shown on your client-facing documents and emails. |
| Logo Display Format | Appears after you upload a logo. Choose Circle, Square or Rounded, and check the Preview. |
| Business Name | Your name on documents and emails. Saving it also renames the team in the team menu. |
| Business Phone | Shown with your contact details. |
| Business Email | Shown with your contact details, and used as the reply-to address on emails Tillage sends for you. |
| Website | Your site, for example https://your-website.com. |
| Business Address | Your mailing address. |
Where client replies go
There’s no separate reply-to setting. When a client replies to a quote or invoice email, the reply goes to your Business Email. If that’s empty, Tillage uses a team member’s notification email or login email instead, starting with the owner. Set Business Email to the inbox you want replies in.
Country and state
Country tells Tillage, and Stripe, where your business is based. It controls:
- The country of a new Stripe Express account. You can’t create one until a country is saved.
- Your default currency. Picking a country sets Currency to that country’s usual currency; you can change it afterwards.
- Which bank transfer method clients see at checkout. Bank transfers stay hidden until a country is saved.
- Whether you can pass Stripe’s processing fee to clients.
Country doesn’t change your tax settings. Set those on the Tax tab (see Quote and invoice settings).
| Country | Bank transfer at checkout |
|---|---|
| United States | ACH, USD |
| Canada | Pre-authorized debit (PAD), CAD or USD |
| United Kingdom | Bacs Direct Debit, GBP |
| Australia | BECS Direct Debit, AUD |
| New Zealand | BECS Direct Debit, NZD |
| Euro-area countries | SEPA Direct Debit, EUR |
Clients in other supported countries pay by card. Bank transfer also stays hidden if your team currency isn’t one the method supports.
The country list includes the 38 countries where Tillage can create a Stripe Express account. If yours isn’t listed, you can’t set up payments in Tillage yet.
US state appears when the country is United States. Tillage uses it to apply card surcharge rules. US teams must set a state before they can choose Client pays for the processing fee. See Processing fees.
If you connect an existing Stripe account, Tillage fills in the country, and the US state if it’s missing, from that account.
Location notices
If your country is missing, you’ll see Set your business country above the Business card and, on other pages, a banner with a Set location button. US teams without a state see Set your US state. Card payments still work while a notice is showing; bank transfers and passing on processing fees wait until your location is complete.
Brand colors
Under Brand Colors, set a Primary Color, Secondary Color and Accent Color with the color picker or a hex value such as #1F3A2B.
Your primary color is used as the header color on the quotes, contracts and PDFs your clients see.
Regional and formatting
The Regional & Formatting card sets team-wide defaults:
- Currency is used on new quotes, invoices and other financial documents.
- Timezone is used for recurring invoices, payment scheduling and invoice reminders. Reminder emails go out at 9 AM in this timezone.
See Quote and invoice settings for more on currency.
Your personal profile
Your name, photo and saved signature are personal, not team settings. Open them from Account Settings:
- Account holds your First Name, Last Name, Phone and profile photo (JPG, PNG or GIF up to 2MB). Use Change Email to change your login email; Tillage sends a 6-digit verification code to the new address.
- Signature stores the signature used when you sign contracts. Enter your Full Name and Title, then draw, type or upload a signature. Click Save Signature, then Save Settings. The signature isn’t stored until you save the page. See Signatures.
