Quote templates

Bundle services and custom lines into reusable templates so similar projects start from a ready-made set of line items.

A quote template is a saved set of line items for a type of project, such as a “Website development package” or a “Brand refresh”. Starting a quote from a template gives you the usual lines, hours and variance in one step, and you adjust from there.

Templates store line items only. Profit margin, discount, tax, notes and the client come from the quote you apply the template to.

Open templates from Quotes → Templates in the sidebar, or click Manage Templates from the template picker in a quote.

Create a template

  1. On the Quote Templates page, click New Template.
  2. Enter a Template Name, such as “Website development package”.
  3. Choose a Category and add a Description of when to use it.
  4. Leave the Active template switch on so it appears in the quote builder.
  5. Under Template Services, add lines:
    • Search the service library box and click a service to add it.
    • Click Add Custom Service for a line that isn’t in your library, and enter its title, description and Rate.
  6. For each line, set the Qty and Var (variance %). The Total updates as you go.
  7. Click Show Preview to check the Estimated Total, then click Create Template.

A template needs a name and at least one line. Custom lines need a title and a price.

Templates are built on this page. There’s no option to save an existing quote as a template, but you can save individual lines to your service library and build a template from those.

Service lines and custom lines

A service line is linked to your library. Each time the template is used, it pulls the service’s current name, description and price, so updating the service updates the template. The quantity and variance come from the template.

A custom line stores its own title, description, rate, quantity and variance. Edit the template to change it.

Use a template

Start a new quote from a template

  1. On the Quote Templates page, click Use Template on the template’s card.
  2. Tillage opens a new quote with the template’s name as the project name and its lines already added.
  3. Choose a client, rename the project and adjust the lines.

Add a template to a quote you’re building

  1. In the quote’s Line Items card, click Template.
  2. In Choose a Template, find the template and click Use Template.

The template’s lines are added after any lines you already have. If the quote has no project name yet, it takes the template’s name.

Once on a quote, the lines are ordinary line items. Changing them doesn’t change the template.

Manage templates

Each card shows the template’s category, the number of services and the first few lines. Use the card menu to:

  • Edit the template.
  • Deactivate a template you no longer use, which hides it from the quote builder. Activate brings it back.
  • Duplicate it, to make a variation under a new name.
  • Delete it permanently.
