Signatures
Set up your company signature, see how clients sign online, and find the signature record for every contract.
Contracts in Tillage are signed online. Your company signs first, when the contract is created; your client signs from a link in their browser, with no account or app needed. Each signature is stored with its name, timestamp, IP address and device.
Set up your signature
You need a saved signature before you can create a contract.
- Open Account Settings from the user menu and choose Signature.
- Enter your Full Name and Title.
- Create your signature on one of the tabs:
- Draw: sign with your mouse, trackpad or finger. Click Clear to start again.
- Type: type your name and choose a Signature Font.
- Upload: upload a PNG or JPG up to 2MB. A transparent background works best.
- Click Save Signature, then Save Settings at the bottom of the page.
Your signature isn’t stored until you click Save Settings.
If you reach the contract wizard’s Company Signature step without a saved signature, click Set Up Signature. In Quick Signature Setup, enter your name and title, then draw or upload a signature and click Save & Continue. It’s saved to your profile for next time.
How the company signature works
In the wizard’s Company Signature step, choose who signs under Sign on Behalf of Company. Everyone on your team with a saved signature is listed. Their signature is applied as soon as the contract is created, so the contract reaches your client already signed by your company.
There’s no separate countersigning step after the client signs.
How your client signs
- Your client opens the contract from the email or link you sent.
- They read the contract and click Sign Contract.
- In the signing dialog, they enter their Full Name and draw their signature with a mouse or touchscreen.
- If the contract includes automatic payments, they choose Yes, authorize automatic payments or No, I will pay invoices manually.
- They click Sign Contract.
The dialog explains that the signature is timestamped, that their IP address is recorded, and that the electronic signature is legally binding.
Clients can only draw their signature; there’s no typed or uploaded option for clients. Each contract takes one client signature.
After the client signs
- The contract moves to Signed, then straight to Executed, and is locked against edits.
- If the contract has a payment schedule, Tillage creates its invoices. The client sees Next Step: Complete Payment with a Pay Now button for the first invoice. See Payment schedules.
- An email with the signed contract attached as a PDF goes to the client’s primary contact and to the person who created the contract.
To get an email whenever any contract is signed or viewed, turn on Contract Notifications in your notification preferences.
What’s recorded
Open the contract and go to the Signatures tab. It appears once the client has signed.
| Company signature | Client signature | |
|---|---|---|
| Name | The team member who signed | The name the client typed |
| Title | From their signature settings | Not collected |
| Signature | Drawn, typed or uploaded image | Drawn image |
| Signed at | When the contract was created | When the client signed |
| IP address | Recorded | Recorded |
| Device | Stored, not shown on the tab | Recorded |
When both are present, the tab shows Contract Fully Executed. The contract’s activity timeline also records each view and signature.
The company signature records the IP address and device of the person who created the contract, even if they chose a colleague’s signature. If the signer should be the one creating the contract, ask them to run the wizard.
Download the signed contract
Open the contract in Tillage and choose Download PDF from the … menu. Your client can download it from the … menu on their copy of the contract once it’s signed.
